The program: Beginners demonstration of Raag Kafi scale / Sargam Meditation piece by our student ensemble / Devotional vocal piece / Raag Desh composition / Instrumental composition based on the devotional song "Raghupati Raghav" / Raag Bhimpalasri composition and Jhala in Teentaal. The dedication and hard work by the students is truly admirable. Your encouragement and support will be inspiring for us to continue the positive challenge, the onward journey with sitar, with more strength and energy. This online fundraiser student concert was dedicated to helping COVID-19 victims via Doctors Without Borders.
This is a festival of performances by the students of Sitar Niketan. It has been designed to inspire music lovers in looking into the beauty of the gradual growth with simple steps in learning Indian classical music in the sitar. The program begins with Sargam pieces flowing onward to complex Raag and Taal compositions, including traditional compositions of the Senia Maihar Gharana which I received from my guru.

The Sitar Niketan Ensemble performed for the Holi Festival at the Cedar Lane Unitarian Universalist Congregation on April 7 , 2024. Raag Durga composition by Guru Alif Laila was presented along with a tabla solo by Abhay kulkarni and a tabla student performance . The Sunday opening at the church was fillled with raags and taals to cherished by the appreciative audience !
